Shiki
Japanese Restaurant in the centre of Norwich
Well I have been fortunate to visit many restaurants, some expensive
and some very cheap, but here you get a mix of competitive prices and
good food....what a combination....the perfect recipe!!?
This Japanese restaurant is in the area of Tombland in Norwich (close
to the city centre),
opposite Tatlers and La Tasca, and close to Edith Cavell and Caffe
Uno. A place I also like is a private
membership club called Reed's, but
you can read a review on it on another page of this site.
Well Shiki, is situated in a very nice part of Norwich City, a place
with so much history, but also great for sitting out during the day.
Shiki restaurant has a very welcoming and modern feel to the place, you
have
options of sitting on a group like bench sitting
which is
very sociable, or you can sit upstairs where it is the more
conventional
type of seating. Perfect for more intimate dinners and family affairs.
The is a wide selection of food at Shiki's, including sushi, noodle
dishes, rice, seafood, meat, soba, udon, and vegetarian options
available. What I also like is the sake drinks etc, this place is very
authentic!
If you are the sort of person who likes their starters, main then
dessert, then this place won't be for you. Authentic Japanese
restaurants serves their savoury dishes at the same time, whichever
gets prepared first, there is no starter or main. So if you expected a
small tapa serving of a dish for a starter then it's more than likely
going to turn up at the same time as your main dish, if not after. But
that is what I love about Shiki's, it seems too simple that all savoury
dishes to be served at the same time. A great way of having a
bit of everything, all at the same time!
As I mentioned earlier the Japanese restaurant feels very modern, I've
never felt rushed, nor have I felt that I am waiting forever for the
next serving. It's very relaxed with plenty of servings of good food!
If you haven't tried Japanese, then this is the place to start. I have
to say for me being a lover of Japanese food, it was disappointing not
to find any lobster dishes on the menu, but then again, you can't have
it all.
I certainly recommend this Japanese restaurant, Shiki serves very good
food. Well worth the money, and the prices aren't expensive, good value
all round! A restaurant i'll go back to!
My Rating:
Very Good
