Rocco's
Restaurant in the centre of Norwich, Prince of Wales Road
Now this place was a surprise! Not only is it a clubby bar at night,
very well suited for the very young people that party late at nights,
coming here for a drink before they go into Mercy Nightclub or other
clubs in the area. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that Rocco's
is also open during the day, offering a fully serviced restaurant with
a great choice of food, but also offering a carvery roast dinner (or
lunch) every Sunday!
Now for someone who is probably use to travelling out into the sticks
looking for a country pub that offer a great roast dinner, well now you don't
need to travel far at all. In the NR1 postcode area of Norwich on
Prince of Wales Road, go to Rocco's for a fantastic carvery roast
dinner, in a great setting, modern and plush restaurant.
When I tried Rocco's for their sunday roast dinner, it was a very warm
day, and the shutters at the very front of the restaurant were open, it
was almost like eating al fresco, with the cool breeze gently blowing
in was very relaxing and put me in a very chilled mood within the first
5 minutes, this was what Sunday's are all about. We were promptly asked
what we would like to drink, and then discussed the food of choice for
our dinner.
After choosing the carvery, we were politely told where to get our
plates and pointed us in the direction towards the kitchen. The chef
was carving the meat and the display of food was incredible, all looked
delicious and piping hot ready to be served. I was asked which meat I
would like which I responded 'Pork and beef please!', the Rocco's chef
was carving away quite generously, but once it was on the plate it
looked a little lost, but it was then I realised how big the
plates were! They were a good size, and once I helped myself to the
range of vegetables like roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, broccoli,
cabbage and so much more, my plate was getting rather full. I poured on
the gravy and shot off back to my table ready to tuck in!
Now, at this point it was quite clear the mammoth task that laid ahead
of me. Not only was this a big plate and I had this huge mound of food
on it. The problem is with most carveries nowadays is that you get use
to being handed a small plate, so you fill it up as efficiently as
possible so avoiding having to go up twice (as this makes you look
greedy!), but you don't need to worry about that here!
There is plenty of food and you won't be disappointed of the quality
either. The Rocco's Carvery Roast dinner was a real treat, and would
certainly have no hesitations about going back again.
Of course there was a choice of desserts and coffee's available offering a very good choice, this topped off the meal nicely!
It's certainly worth trying out the Mercy Nightclub too, they have a
VIP Suite available which has a lounge area and is comfortable, so
i'm sure that you'll be offered this if you have used the restaurant.
My Rating: Good
