Welcome to mo4, we hope to help you with
information, reviews and let you know what's happening in the area of
Norwich, Norfolk and beyond.
The Malaysian
Delights Chinese Buffet, in the city centre of Norwich on Timber Hill,
a very
popular area for bars, restaurants and great food!
I decided to try this restaurant after discovering a voucher online on
a third party voucher website. The offer was for 15% off the food
excluding drinks, so this was a worthwhile reason for me and my partner
to give it a look, ideal for a Sunday lunchtime!
We walked into the establishment, and although it is not a modern
restaurant it does have a kind of chinese feel to it, for a malaysian
and chinese buffet restaurant offering great value, then this is pretty
much what you would expect for a quick lunch.
After being seated we showed them the voucher, and we were
very disappointed
that they refused it, although I explained it was on a voucher site and
you could see the voucher I printed was genuine, as it had all their
details as well as mine so that the voucher could be produced and
printed. After a
slight heated discussion I was amazed that they were not honouring the
voucher as they said it excluded lunch and was only for evening dinner,
even though there was no mention of this on the voucher other than
excluding drinks. At this point I was disappointed with the customer
service, as I can't help but think how many other customers will be let
down in the same way, thankfully they did reduce the cost of our drinks
which
made up for the upset, although it did actually equate to the value of
the
discount on the voucher. So it was a shame they just couldn't honour
the voucher to begin with to
avoid upsetting us the customer and ensuring no negative 'word of
mouth' from customers visiting their restaurant, they
could
then correct the thirdy party voucher website to avoid
any confusion in the future to potential customers.
Anyway, once we got over the disagreement we helped ourself to the
starter, there was a reasonable choice of savoury dishes although
surprisingly less on
the starter side, normally you would have more small bites and sauces
to try, but there only seem to be 2 choices which weren't many compared
to other chinese buffet restaurants.
The food was still good, but could do with a little more choice, but as
the buffet restaurant offers good food at excellent value, then you
really can't complain!
After the starter we went up for our main course, what was great about
this buffet restaurant is that although it is known to be a choice of
chinese food, it does have some unique malaysian dishes too, which you
wouldn't normally find in the other chinese buffet restaurants which
does make this establishment very unique. A great choice of chicken and
beef dishes in a variety of different spices and sauces, rice, noodles
and more. There are also
vegetarian dishes available, but don't expect a huge amount of choice.
Overall, Malaysian Delights do offer good food at great value, we had
the full 3 course meal which also included a choice of icecream for
dessert. The cost came to a very low amount for the both of us,
incredible value for a midday lunch. All you can eat buffet's are very
popular with money being tight for many people, which is why chinese
and carvery buffets are on demand!
I think if the buffet restaurant kept a closer eye on their marketing,
double checking the terms of their offers and vouchers so ensuring no
confusion
with the customer and honouring them, then I believe this would
be more of a popular place to eat.
My
Rating: Good - Improved customer service would make this a
more popular chinese buffet restaurant in Norwich.
So if you
fancy malaysian and chinese buffet food, then try the Malaysian
Delights restaurant with a great choice of chinese food, offering good
food at great value, then
here is where you want to go. It's best to book if you plan to eat in
the evenings to avoid disappointment for the weekend. To book a table,

forget to tell them that mo4 (Mark Ovens) sent you!
